I think , if the treasure was actually left there someone else got it and ran.

With Skinwalker Ranch, I think there are a lot of things on and under the earth that have always been there. We now have the technology to find, or have never really looked. Who knows
Most of the treasure isn't found because it was never there in the first place or was hidden and retrieved by those who put it there.
