There's only one person per truck.
The trucks have lift forks to grab the big bins and dump them.
95%+ of their stops, they don't even have to get out of the truck.
They do take one "big" item per week that is not in the bin. If it's something really bug like a couch or refrigerator, they ask to call ahead. They send a supervisor out to meet them at that address and help load it.
It's a way less physically taxing job than it used to be. I still wouldn't want to do it, but it's not the body beater it once was.
