For my post # 11,111, should "one" receive its much overdue comeuppance? [View all]
1. The concept of "uni"verse. Not too long ago, was the 125th anniversary of a discovery of something past the Milky Way which was thought to be back then all that there was. This idea of oneness has since been proven wrong (please read the next numbers with your best Carl Sagan impersonation) billions and billions of times. Now to say the word universe the implication is that there is one. Language influences thought, thought influences behaviors and beliefs and eventually cultures and civilizations.
1. Earth I?. This time we need to go back to the actual Earth 1 before it got hit by the planetoid Theia rendering the Earth and Theia into two cosmic molten blobs, eventually forming Earth II and Luna, our Moon. So welcome to Earth II!
1. Zero to the zero power equals one??? Or so I was taught. Hmmm? You have nothing and you do nothing to it you get something. I just read the bold part is undefined now. Chickens! Looks like with a "little" bit of work you can have a creation formula.
1. The fierce addictions of superlatives. What is the one thing thing?? Just stop it! We see what happens when a few want to be #1 in wealth etc. And here's a weird one for you:
What is the tallest mountain today?
Many clamor for Mt. Everest. Others say Mauna Kea because you should count the part in the ocean.
What's that? Ecuador is about two kilometers jutted out to start off with making Chimborazo from its peak to the center of the Earth the longest distance!!
And yet I hear more snickering from an off world source. What's that you say dinky sized Mars? Olympus Mons is taller that any two of those put on top of each other and then some!!
1. How to count millennia properly. After one calendar changed presumably they started off with the year one and not zero, otherwise time travelers to back then could ask. "What year is it?" "We don't know. We think it is year zero???" Therefore, 1 to 1000, 1001-2000 and 2001-3000. So I and my pals were right to hold our sparsely attended real millennium parties.
