(241,272 posts)I lost track of my posts long ago, but I would have found out when I congratulated my fellow DUers with Anniversaries and Milestones on EarlG's thoughtful daily thread!
It's a little embarrassing since I'm not that chatty, but I've been here since early 2003 and served as a DU.2 mod, a DU.3 host and on MIRT when I was qualified since 2013, so that explains a great number of my posts.
I'd never been on any sort of message board before DU (though I did sign up for Daily Kos first, but never figured it out (blush). I always voted, mainly for Democrats (Jimmy Carter was my favorite), but what woke me up was 9/11 when I was sitting in my dentist's chair in Albany, NY when all hell broke loose. I was forgotten (think I was supposed to have X-Rays) but she had the TV overhead tuned to CNN so I watched that second plane hit the World Trade Center over and over and over. I walked out of there completely shaken, thinking the world was about to end and I'd better start paying closer attention to all that was happening in this country and the world.
So I started reading and paying closer attention to the news and a good friend eventually turned me on to DU.
Like I said, I'd never been on any message board before and I got a reply on my very first post. I walked away, afraid to look, but it turned out to be DU legend newyawker99 welcoming me to DU! And she became my first DU friend.
So I never gave up and I've learned so much from everyone here and have made so many more knowledgeable and kind and thoughtful friends here. So thank you for all the kind words, your support during these unprecedented and frightening times and for sharing such valuable knowledge every single day!!!
Rhiannon
