When I was in college, a good friend played this sonata, #32, Op. 111, Beethoven's last one, at his senior recital. Most of his later music is very strange for the time (he was deaf by then, so other people's music could no longer bother him); the last string quartets are especially weird. I remember my friend practicing this for a long time; it's quite difficult - but Beethoven wouldn't have cared.
