What's with all the lawyer ads? [View all]

We've seen them on TV and billboards. Morgan and Morgan seems to be the most prominent one with local lawyers advertising their services. In San Diego, we got a pair of brothers who are lawyers who describe themselves as "The Law Brothers" who appear to specialize in injuries caused by 18-wheelers.

I drove from San Diego to Las Vegas on Monday and returned today and there were a large number of billboards for lawyers. Even in the desert between Barstow, Ca, and the Nevada state line, where there is literally nothing but open desert, were littered with lawyer billboards. To be truthful, seeing the lawyer's picture and reading their messages makes we want not to use their services.

I get it lawyers need to advertise their services but it seems every one of them touts they got people millions of dollars but doesn't that also seem to encourage people to sue?
