I find them interesting and relaxing.

How do narrowboats get electricity?

Betty on a Boat

Jun 1 2025

This video is in two parts. In the first part you can see me travelling through a lovely part of England called Kinver. In the second part you can see me explaining how I get off-grid electricity on my narrowboat.

I expect some people will click on this video just to find out about the electricity, so feel free to skip ahead to that bit - it starts at about 15 minutes 40 seconds. Equally, I know lots of people watch these videos because they enjoy the scenery, so apologies if you're bored by the second bit!

Thanks again for watching. If there are any other topics you’d like me to cover in future videos then let me know!

I also have an Instagram account, so feel free to follow me on there! / bettyonaboat

Why does England still have canals?

Betty on a Boat
Aug 2 2025

Hello again! In this video you can see me and my narrowboat going through the famous Bratch Locks in South Staffordshire.

I also give a very simplified history of England's canal network, and why it is that England still has canals.

I then come across a bit of a problem which means I can't continue my journey...

Thanks for watching!
