And I prefer to reach in the back of the cooler for milk that won't expire for an additional 4 or 5 days rather than the stuff closer to the front.

Same for things like mayonnaise. Jars at one store may have a best-before date two months away, but another store may be in good shape six months out.

Those things still matter while I'm able-bodied, but will surely take a backseat in another decade or two.
