When my last kitty was failing in July, she wasn't eating all of her food, so I was putting partial cans of wet food out for stray cats I had seen. Something was eating it, and after my kitty passed, I started putting out a can of food out every night. I admit I was toying with the idea of luring a feral cat into wanting to be my new pet. Last month, I came home late and surprised a dark cat, waiting on my patio. I've been curious about which kitty I'm feeding, what it looks like, one of the young ones or an older tom who might actually have a home. I thought I might be feeding one of the young tabby cats I fed last winter. Except for that sighting last month, I hadn't seen which kitty I was feeding.
I found out last night. I'm not feeding a kitty. I'm feeding a skunk! At least I was last night. Although it's a handsome skunk, well marked, I don't think the relationship is going any further. But how do I break it off without hurting its feelings?
