1. One of my favorites from the sixties and most decades after that

I first saw Perry Miller (Jesse Colin Young) in 1967, when my local Washington DC band was hired to open for them at the Ambassador Theater. They were SO tight and professional, just a joy to hear, although there were already tensions among them. I next saw him in Philadelphia in 1974 with his own band. Leo Kottke opened for him, so that was a "can't lose" concert.

Then one day, about 7 or 8 years ago, while on vacation near the outer tip of Cape Cod, I saw a sign saying Jesse Colin Young performing at the Payomet Performing Arts tent in Truro. I couldn't believe it. How old could he be? 75? I was lucky to get a couple of the last few tickets. He was great, and had an absolutely first rate band. I was hoping, year after year, the he would do another tour, but I can imagine how stressful a tour like that must be at 75.
