1. Heard a lot about it at the time, knew some people who were on it, never bothered with it myself.

Bowie was ahead of his time. But I vaguely remember him suggesting at one point, about the time BowieNet launched, that maybe artists should just give all their music away and simply rely on concerts and merch for income - and that struck me as an incredibly bad idea.
