Apply by hand and rub in. After 4-5 coats buff with 4 ought steel wool, then apply one coat each day for a week, rubbing it in with your hand, one a week for a month, and one a month for a year. The finish will look about a foot deep. Oil once-twice a year to maintain. This is how I finish walnut and maple longrifle stocks.
