Two tales of a city [View all]
Evacuees from Afghanistan continue to arrive in Tucson
TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) Evacuees from Afghanistan began to arrive in November and have continued throughout the year.
"They are trying to get everyone off the bases out by middle of January," Connie Phillips, the President and CEO of Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, said.
So far at least 88 people have arrived in Tucson. The majority of them are younger adults, according to Phillips.
As more evacuees arrive, the Tucson community has stepped up to help.

Police investigating violence, vandalism outside Islamic Center of Tucson
Two members say they were attacked by a group
TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) Violence broke out outside the Islamic Center of Tucson on Christmas morning, leaving a broken window and one man with a black eye.
Two ICT members say they were on their way to morning prayer just before 6:30 a.m. when a belligerent group of young men and women attacked them before vandalizing the building.
It was very terrifying, said University of Arizona PhD student Mohamed Moustafa. This is my seventh year in this country. And nothing like this happened to me before.
Surveillance footage captured the scuffle outside the back entrance of the building.
