The diamond mine is an interesting geological oddity and the reason for the diamond design of the Arkansas State flag.

One Saturday, my then young son convinced me that we should go to the park and look for diamonds. The mine is a frequently plowed field. We didn't find anything except a hot summer day and lots of "skitters."

After a couple of hours tramping through the mud, I remembered that the tourist that find diamonds always seem to do so within an hour of starting to search. I decided that the time had expired and it was time to go home. I've not been back.
