Southington Residents Disgraced, Official Says Racist Flyers Inexcusable [View all]

They went up sometime in the night, affixed to street signs on some of Southington’s quietest residential streets, their message stamped in bold lettering. Look around, white man. We founded this nation. Take your country back.

A week after Southington residents woke to find a handful of flyers posted around town, decrying “globalist traitors” and urging white people not to apologize for their heritage, the town is no closer to understanding who posted them, or why. And investigators are stumped by an insignia — presumably the author’s handiwork — of an open book and harpoon within the outline of Connecticut, imposed on a curious circular motif and stamped with the words “White Whalers Book Club.”

Southington residents said they were disgusted by the handbills, if not particularly worried.

“It’s terrible. It’s a disgrace,” said Rose Dunlap, 80, who was eating lunch at the Carousel Coffee Shop Friday. “Do they want to get us all in a war or something?”
