Georgia

I'm in California and not Georgia but am calling for Ossoff and Warnock on Sundays & Wednesdays (it's only about two hours each day). The organization is:

My understanding is that there are many, many people with many, many groups who are making phone calls, donating money, sending cards, etc. (from folks who don't live in Georgia but want to help in any way they can).

The people we're calling are Democrats - some are those who have been very active voters, some are those who have voted sporadically, and everything in-between. We don't have the information on the patterns of the individuals we're calling.

Anyway, I've been blown away by the folks I've been talking to! At least 75% of them pick up their phones. The first thing I do is introduce myself as a representative on behalf of the Georgia Democratic Party. I ask them if they plan on voting for the upcoming run-off election for their Senators, what's their voting plan, and then we discuss whatever is appropriate regarding how the conversation is going.

EVERY person (not 99.9%) but EVERY person I've spoken with knows what's at stake and have said they would wait in line, drive for hours, do whatever they have to do to vote! Many of those I spoke with aren't mailing in their ballots because they have drop box/mailing security concerns so they are voting in person. The people were so sweet and passionate. I was incredibly heartened. The only lady I spoke with who said she is mailing in her ballot is doing so because she's in her 90's and doesn't drive anymore. She told me she's had the same mailman for many years and he has assured her that her ballot will get there.

I also spoke with a young lady (probably in her early 30's) who said that she and her husband feel "the weight of the world" is on their shoulders (her voice was cracking ). She said they are voting in person on the day of because they don't want to take any chances.

I realize that I'm speaking with Dems who at least have voted once before but I didn't know how engaged and informed they would be.

I realize that the odds aren't in our favor and I'm emotionally taking care of myself so I won't be devastated. Having said that, at least we have a chance....
