1. So the head of highway safety was a columnist before working on Deal's campaign... great credentials

Geez, you'd think the head of the Office of Highway Safety would have some education and credentials a bit more impressive than 'former columnist at a small paper'. I'd think he'd have some education or training that was related to the job, maybe be an officer in the GHP, or something of that sort. But it seems that Nathan Deal figures if someone can write politically biased prose they're good enough to direct an important state agency that deals with our safety on a daily basis.
