Recount set after coin toss decides Royal Lakes Village Board seat tie [View all]

CARLINVILLE — A tie for a spot on a Macoupin County village board was decided by a coin toss, but a discovery recount was set for 1 p.m. Tuesday.

London Simmons won a seat on the Royal Lakes Village Board after a tie with Renee’ Jefferson was decided by a coin flip last week.

Located about halfway between Jerseyville and Litchfield, Royal Lakes has approximately 190 residents on less than one square mile of land.

The two had been tied in a race for an unexpired two-year term with 29 votes each.
