KcK's "Unified Government" was bound to cause issues like this, IMO. And I lived there for nearly a decade. Post Office couldn't even get our address correct. We called 911 due to a fire in our family room and were told we didn't exist!
But I'm also wondering about her last line in the article... about what papers Kump had to bring in, versus what she had to present. Because, it's becoming a near truism that women are told to bring in buckets full of papers that men are never required to present. I have bad heart burn over this after trying to get a "Real ID" marking on my DL. Took me nearly 6 months, almost $100 in costs to obtain some papers from previous states I'd lived in, and other monies for mailing, copying, etc. And then they were all but set on denying me for the exact reason I said they'd repeat. Since I fully expect that a law will be made that no one but those with the REAL ID annotation will eventually be allowed to vote, it was a full-on touchy subject for me. Not to mention I saw it as an affront against women and a road to cut us out of voting. It didn't help that basically all my hubby had to present was his previous DL and a birth certificate... copied. Not even a "certified copy."
I may be overreacting... lord knows there wasn't that much information in the KMBC account... but I'm seeing too many barriers for women being erected in all sorts of ways in too many situations, not to have my antennas perked up by this. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
