If UM does not field a team, I wonder what additional contractual liability they will have with the Holiday Bowl. If I was the UM administration, I would be on the phone with them now seeing if they can get out of playing by only losing the payment.

The one thing they can't do is back off the suspensions. The attempted cover up is sufficient to justify them even without proving criminal assault. We are not talking about expulsion yet which has a higher bar to hurdle.
