Ellison is pretty popular in the Twin Cities; I don't think a lot of people in this area believe his ex-girlfriend's claims, and his ex-wife insists he was never abusive to her in any way. But MN has its lunatic fringe areas, especially in the 6th CD, where there are plenty of people who would vote for a religious nut like Wardlow. That's the same district that elected Michele Bachmann, after all, who is cut from the same cloth. I think Ellison would be a fine AG, though when he announced his candidacy I wondered how well he'd do statewide, being not only black but a Muslim. There are some real knuckle-draggers out in the boonies who wouldn't give a crap about #metoo otherwise but I think they'd use the #metoo claims against Ellison to justify not voting for a black Muslim which they wouldn't have done anyway.
