(btw, I'm in NH atm - though I think we're going to move to VT .

But a few years ago, living in FL, I applied (as a single mother with no other support) for food stamps. I was making (with my MSW) 29,500 working as a counselor in the prisons.

We were sinking into poverty and food stamps would have saved us.

I was denied because they said I made too much money..............(and sunk we did!). I had to quit the job (couldn't get there anymore) and we struggled - it was terrible. I mean food insecure, horrible, horrible poverty.
I never applied again.

We're fine now - but those years were TERRIBLE. I can't imagine them making it HARDER. It's hard enough!
