Woman admits increasing her own salary, stealing $1M from company [View all]

MILLSTONE -- A Brick Township woman admitted Monday to forging company checks and increasing her own salary in an effort to steal $1 million from her employer.

Virginia DeBerri, 52, worked as the bookkeeper at Millstone-based Foresight Enviroprobe between 2010 and 2015.

DeBerri was accused of writing more than 500 company checks to cash and then depositing the money into her personal bank account, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said.

She also increased her own salary at the company without permission from her bosses, Gramiccioni said.
