Gilmore's son should be around 40 years old and he did advocate for his release so he might be willing to provide shelter, although it would be weird having someone that you barely know sharing living quarters

As far as getting the 40 quarters of work experience in order to qualify for SSI, if he was working any time while he was in prison he earned credits to qualify. I have an acquaintance that qualified for SSDI and met the 25 years of earning requirement because he received credits for being a barber while in prison.

As far as having a laptop or cell phone is concerned, it is possible to get by without owning either of them.
