WASHINGTON (WGHP) — U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) is recovering after a fall at the marble staircase outside the U.S. House chamber.

On Friday, Foxx reportedly went up the stairs to talk to her family in the gallery and slipped while walking down the stairs.

She was helped to her feet, and medical personnel looked her over. Foxx suffered a few cuts in the fall and went to the attending physician’s office on her own to get treatment.

“Everything seems to be okay,” a representative for Foxx told FOX8.

Foxx represents North Carolina’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Ashe, Alleghany, Avery, Davie, Mitchell, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin counties, as well as part of Caldwell and Forsyth counties.
