(Pa) York County woman who kept grandmother's corpse in freezer for 15 years denied drop in charges [View all]

A York County judge on Friday denied a request to throw out some charges and suppress part of a statement from a woman, Cynthia Black of York Haven, who’s accused of keeping her grandmother’s remains in a freezer for 15 years and collecting more than $186,000 in Social Security benefits.

Police said Black, 62, kept the remains of her grandmother, Glenora Reckord Delahay, in a freezer for 15 years. Delahay died between 2001 and 2004, according to new testimony.

Black took the freezer with her when she moved from the Ardmore area of Haverford Township, Delaware County, to Warrington Township in 2007, police said. Two people who were interested in potentially buying the home discovered the remains while inspecting the property in 2019.

Common Pleas Judge Gregory M. Snyder rejected arguments that the statute of limitations had expired for charges of theft and receiving stolen property. Black is free on $50,000 unsecured bail.
