Tarrant County Commissioners again propose cutting voting sites ahead of an election [View all]

On Tuesday, the Tarrant County Commissioners Court will consider whether or not to significantly reduce the number of polling places for this November's election, a move experts say will benefit Republicans.

The proposal aims to reduce polling places on Election Day, Nov. 4, from 349 sites to 214 sites. It would also reduce early voting locations by more than half from the 51 used last year to 24.

Not all of the five members of the Tarrant County Commissioners Court are on board.

Precinct 2 Commissioner Alisa Simmons said the proposal eliminates early voting locations at all Tarrant County universities, where 10% of the early votes were tallied in the 2020 election.
