2. There are no "registered Democrats or Republicans" in Texas, because we don't register by party

We just have Registered Voters. I keep seeing this pop up all the time and it is misleading.

There are more voters who either vote for Democrats or lean Democrat.. Heck, precinct chairs can only find our solid Democrats by searching our database for those who voted in the Democratic primary. (that isn't always reliable, since folks like to jump parties in our primaries on a regular basis).

This gerrymandering is atrocious and will reduce the number of solid Democratic districts by 5, and makes it nearly impossible for some of our best Representatives to go back to DC. Those who seek re-election from those districts are going to have a long row to hoe.

However ,gerrymandering is not the only problem: we have low voter turnout percentages all across the state. I think the average is around 48% actually voting - depending on if it is a presidential year. Our local election turnouts are atrocious
Republicans vote in higher percentage numbers than Democrats, which is why they win.
