Ukraine rejects Russian proposal for humanitarian corridors that lead to Russia, Belarus [View all]
Russia announced yet another ceasefire and a handful of humanitarian corridors to allow civilians to flee Ukraine starting Monday, although the evacuation routes were mostly leading to Russia and its ally Belarus, drawing withering criticism from Ukraine and others.

In the latest ceasefire proposal, most of the evacuation routes were toward Russia or its ally Belarus, a move Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk called "unacceptable." Belarus served as a launching ground for the invasion.
"I don't know many Ukrainians who want to seek refuge in Russia. That's hypocrisy," French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview on French news broadcaster LCI.

U.K. Europe Minister James Cleverly was also critical of Russia's proposal, saying, "Providing evacuation routes into the arms of the country that is currently destroying yours is a nonsense."
