I mean, the Trump regime held regular press conferences where the media were allowed to ask questions. If the responses are somewhat less abrasive and uncouth than those from Trump's press spokes, they're often no more illuminating, and the "left-wing" media, "traitorous" judges and various other sectors of society have been regularly demonized when convenient.

Proposing a repatriation scheme that's less generous than the one championed by the BNP and targeted at a different outgroup isn't much to boast about either.

We shouldn't forget the repeated, not particularly subtle threats from various politicians that if Brexit was not enacted, violence on the streets might result, with the implication it would be justified. That's a very slippery slope. The fact this seems to have been headed off for now by pandering to them is probably just storing up problems for the future.
