Republican shill explains Voter ID. Never would have thought of it. [View all]
It's only a few lines in a post in the "comments" section that
followed a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel news story, but I
never would have that of this as a reason for Voter ID,
on my own.
Apparently, it's just one more Reverse-Robin Hood (steal
from the poor, for the benefit of corporate shareholders)
scheme:

You have to understand what was behind the voter ID law. Currently public records are not available for names and addresses of foodstamp users. We could not for example under freedom of information request public records on those receiving foodstamps and the value of that assistance by person to perform our own investigation to check for fraud. Voter ID is a debt collection tool to require more to register with public records resources to exercise the right to vote... ...Less will vote as a result of Voter ID because they do not want their current addresses on file with a public records resource. You could put a photo on a foodstamp card, allow it to be used for voting. Personally do not feel it would matter to bring more poor to the polls because they fear debt collectors. In America its a felony to be poor, owe money, be homeless and be on foodstamps.

Clicking the Poster's ID ("Republican Pirate"

shows that he or she
(or maybe a gender-neutral pronoun, "it" would be equally
appropriate) shows that this is one pompous gasbag of a serial
poster on this site...
Interestingly, posting while at work (on Taxpayer's Dime) was
one of the reasons the local county District Attorney gave for
the John Doe probe into (then) County Executive Wanker's
administration. (It's been extended to include his activities
in Madison, since the beginning of 2011, but that's another
story.)
