They are still getting money from their corporate owners and they are doing what they get paid for: taking care of the corporations.
The corporations are getting their money's worth. Why should they quit paying?

A question is "how do we make the politicians accountable to the citizens and get corporate money out of politics?"
This article is an incorrect frame, IMO.
