2. GAACK! Is there anything that can open old Works files? Even Works didn't always work...

for earlier versions. I always had a couple of versions around just in case I got stuck with one of those beastly .wps files.

Microsoft gave up on conversion tools, but if you have an older file viewer around it might work.

You have my sympathies.

I find LibreOffice to be superb. I've been using the Linux version since day 1 and it just RKP5637 Feb 2018 #4
