9. I was reading on one web site to be secure on the dark net, the author uses a VPN and Linux on a thumb drive.

Pretty slick I'd say. You log onto the Onion router/Tor via Tails Linux on the thumb drive thru the VPN.
I would guess your IP Add is all over the place and hard to track..yes?
