2. I've been having this problem for months

Any attempt to copy a file >2GB to an external SSD causes the drive to go offline in the middle of the transfer and a message of no such drive. I haven’t yet seen fatal corruption of the drive but I haven’t tried copying anything since the specific fix mentioned was installed.
This has occurred across different SSD models since at least February 2025.
I keep my system up to date with only 2-3 days delay after Patch Tuesday.
I’ve tried all sorts of fixes recommended online, none have worked.
