2. I can understand his wanting to spring his friend, but were that to happen to me I would have called the police.

They either have a key to open the facility or the contact info for someone in Bristol government that did.

I hope the judge will show some leniency and let him go with paying for damages and a weekend or two of trash detail and call it a day.
