US foreign aid establishes financial and economic relationships than enable US banks to lend, and capitalism to flourish. This is profitable for our institutions and companies, and it enables democratic free elections so that citizens participate! When we wanted democracies in eastern Europe the USSR fought us tooth and nail. We wanted capitalism and profits, they wanted communism.

Retreating from the world makes us less safe and undermines our economy.
