Adjuncts - a thought to possibly help each other [View all]

Ok I teach online

The State of Virginia is cutting all adjunct hours to 29 - broken up as 7 credits summer, 11 credits spring, 11 credits Fall (community college level - I don't know about university levels)

Since several states are cutting back credit hours for adjuncts they are going to need more - they are doing this because they don't want ACA and would have to pay a fine if they don't offer health care to workers over 30 hours

Yes it is wrong - I accept that

Many of us have cobbled together a living teaching part time because there aren't other jobs - I want to find more work to increase my income which has been slashed in half over the last 5 years.

I am thinking maybe if we know which states are doing this (I assume it is mostly community college) and currently adjuncts make up 60% of faculty - perhaps telling what state you are teaching in and whether they are hiring online instructors -

*** the details should be sent privately of who the Dean is and an email address and possibly subject matter for someone to pursue getting hired *** HR are gatekeepers so going directly to Deans might help although some are now make huge databases to make sure adjuncts are not teaching at other colleges and going over the 30 hour limit within each State community college system

But if we at least know the state and whether it is a community college or university we can do research from there.

Or just commiserate about the wrong headness of this assault on living wages not just in Food industry but in Academia too

Others threads on this adjunct situation (update)

Further clarification - My idea is that we teach in other States online (limits within each state) to make a full time job - not sweat shops schools either - there are plenty of those who already pay very little
