40 miles range without having to plug in ( in a sunny climate).

but in reality I would charge it up to it's 400 mile range and then make sure I parked it out of the shade which would extend it's range and reduce the amount of power needed from what ever source is local.

I have a friend that bought a Chevy Volt from a woman that claimed to have never put gas in the car. She charged it up at night (120 volt) and it got her to work and back home for years. This car reminds me of that type of vehicle - not for everybody but certainly perfect for some.
