5. It is very likely that there will be a future generation that will never see 500 ppm again.

I have put together a very crude model of a quadratic equation from the data at Mauna Loa which suggests that we will pass 500 ppm around 2046. I'll be dead then, but I expect the survivors will hate my generation for what we did to them.
