past them to attempt to "seed" some of the most effective environmental/species advocacy groups with people who start out as spies but work their way up the ladder to actual positions of leadership, where they can then be totally ineffective. Finding them might not be hard, but by that time the organization has wasted so much time, money and emotional energy developing (and trusting) such people they could theoretically do remarkable damage both in fact and to morale.

Not saying this happened here, or happens at all, but our opponents have shown they know how to play the Long Game and do all sorts of evil shit. Just something to consider and watch for.

I don't think this could ever happen at a smaller (but effective) group like Center for Biological Diversity where it's run by its founder, etc..
