Frugal summertime refreshment drinks [View all]

Black Tea

A box of 100 black tea bags from Family Dollar costs $1.00. I put 12 bags in 1.5 quarts of boiling water, let sit for awhile, remove bags an pour the tea into a gallon container partly filled with ice. I top that off with cold tap water and add a couple of good squirts of RealLemon Juice. An 8 oz. cup costs about a penny.

Homemade Gatorade

1/8 cup sugar
1/8 cup ReaLemon Juice
2 Tablespoons of honey
1/4 teaspoon of sea salt
6 3/4 cups cold water divided

Instructions

In a saucepan stir sugar, ReaLemon juice, 3/4 cup water, honey, and sea salt over medium heat until the sugar, honey and salt dissolve.
Pour mixture into 6 cups of cold water.
Shake to combine.
Chill mixture in the fridge until ready to serve.
