A Canadian biologist went on a half-decade quest to solve the mystery of the missing grizzly digits.

BLUF: Traps meant for smaller animals end up painfully damaging the toes of grizzly bears. The toes eventually fall off, but the bear is in pain. Furthermore, the bear loses digging, clawing, and climbing ability.
