It's more complex than a desire for martyrdom. If that were the case, they could all gather in a HQ somewhere and all be martys within a few minutes.

Also remember they hide in tunnels and behind civilians! What self-respecting would-be martyr would delay gratification in such a manner? You'd also think they'd have caught on by now that civilians won't protect them, Israel is going to bomb them anyway. And yet the claims of human shields persist among some.

No, I think it's too cavalier and illogical to blame the 37,000 deaths on their Islamist beliefs.

It's more likely they actually want freedom and liberation for their people. And they're willing to fight to the last man to get it. Which is very likely, the last man I mean. Just hope they won't take many more innocents down with them.

Freedom and liberation, self-determination for Palestinians? Not many care about that in the corridors of power, or even here sadly.
