Two flares were lit on Saturday night next to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's private residence in Caesarea and landed in his yard, according to the Shin Bet security service and Israel Police.
Netanyahu and his family members were not at the residence at the time, and no protests for the hostages or against the government were held in the area, ever since the focus of the protests shifted to Jerusalem.
The police and Shin Bet said in a statement that a large number of security forces arrived at the scene and collected evidence as part of an investigation that was opened into the incident.
"This is a serious event that constitutes a dangerous escalation and the necessary investigative actions will be taken accordingly," they said in a statement.
