They should have held it anyhow, let the police arrest them. Make sure there are lots of people, cameras to witness if the police then try to arrest anyone. Use peaceful, non-violent, non-cooperation. Do not resist being handcuffed. Make the police literally drag you away. This worked well in the US during the Vietnam war protests. "The whole world is watching." Something that is much easier now, with live streaming via phones.
