Pre-pandemic I'd go to yearly reunions with the girls I grew up with from summer camp. Four of them are close friends who know I don't drink, they know my story and are considerate, they'll ask me if I mind if they have a glass of wine with dinner, which I don't. And one friend rarely drinks, either, so I usually hang out with her. But on one of our more recent gatherings there were a couple of girls who came together and brought wine with them which they had to have at every meal. They even asked my non-drinking friend if she had a corkscrew. The smell made me nauseous since the worst of the two sat right across from me so I finally just went for a walk. And I'll have 14 years sober next week, so I've tried to learn to make plans for these occasions.
