I'm 12 days out from my second hip replacement, and if your arthritis is that bad, I say go for it! It's like magic, being able to walk around without pain or those crunching, grinding sounds (both my hips were bone-on-bone). I had anterior, robot-assisted surgeries, and although YMMV, I feel as though my fairy godmother waved her magic wand and poof! two brand-new hips that work perfectly.
Let me add that the first few days afterward are not fun, and there's medication, exercise, and physical therapy involved. Also icing and elevation...but it works!
