1. Is the dentist the one who suggested (only) tylenol?

Perhaps talk with your primary care physician and explain everything. If it is specifically nerve pain (neuropathic pain) or chronic rebound pain, there may be a role for gabapentin (or pregabalin) or amantadine among other options (but I am only mentioning the NON-opioids and not other classes of drugs that can be more problematic). Primary care physicians should be familiar with that approach or should recognize the role of a pain clinic referral.

Perhaps your PCP would even agree to discuss/consult with the dentist about your current care?
