Our family has an old joke: while I love my kid to death, I'm not so enamored with yours. It has gotten better though. After 16 years, I look at little kids and think back to how my daughter was at that age. I remember the cuteness and innocence (which she actually still has, even behind the wheel of a car) and I appreciate that their parents are (hopefully) enjoying having them in their lives. I'm still no fan of kids - I stopped at one - but I don't look at them as nuisances any more. Well, unless they're bad, in which case I think that the parents may have a handful at home.

Being a parent can be so complicated!
